Trican uses a two-truck coiled tubing (CT) system for operations where the CT has to be run into deeper wells or where large diameter CT is to be used. One truck is the coiled tubing unit and the second is the crane and tool truck. This system allows for quick rig ups as the CT is stabbed into the injector during transportation. This also allows long lubricator lengths to be run without having a separate long reach crane. Coiled tubing sizes vary from 31.8 mm (1¼ in) to 88.9 mm (3½ in), and injectors have 13,600 to 45,400 kg (30,000 to 100,000 lb) of pull. All units are equipped with state-of-the-art recording and modelling systems including a real-time version of our Cerberus ™ design software. This allows us to model the operating limits of the CT using real parameters (pump pressure, well pressure) from the well.

Trican’s intermediate-depth coil units are single-truck units designed for working on shallow to medium depth wells. These units utilize trailer-mounted cranes for easier access to the wellhead on tight locations.
